Whether you’ve been living under a rock or not the past few years, you’ve probably heard of MSCHF. They are the art collective that’s behind the ‘drops’ that have gone viral the past few years. From ‘the pertinence of chaos,’ which was a laptop infected with six of the most dangerous malware in the last few years, to the Satan shoes, with Lil Nas X.

As mentioned before, MSCHF has always known how to catch the eye of the public with their drops. Thus, to admire this dedication to marketing controversy, we have compiled their shoes over the years.

Satan Shoes: MSCHF & Lil Nas X

In 2021, in collaboration with Lil Nas X, MSCHF revealed as their drop #43 which featured a pair of ‘Satan’ shoes, which were Nike Air Max 97’s customised with inverted cross laces, a bronze pentagram, stitching including ‘666’ and the biblical verse of ‘Luke 10:18’ and allegedly with being constructed of 60 cc of ink and 1 drop of blood with a tagline of “better to reign in hell than to serve in heaven.”

The shoe attracted heavy controversy from Christian groups and a lawsuit with Nike which was later settled outside of court between the sneaker giant and MSCHF.

Gobstomper: The Shoes Meant to be Destroyed

Released 2023, MSCHF released the Gobstompers, a pair of heavily padded skate shoes which were meant to be destroyed. Within the shoes, there are four layers which upon the destruction of shoes, allows for other layers of the shoe to present themselves, with striking colours which make unique patterns on the shoes. The shoes also feature a variation known as the ‘sour edition’ of the shoes.

The Jesus Shoes

MSCHF’s drop #7 were a pair of ‘Jesus’ shoes which were a pair of Nike Air Max 97’s customised with a steel crucifix charm on the laces and 60 cc of water from the river Jordan present in the shoe and tagline which says “walk on water.”

Big Red Boots

Perhaps the biggest drop done by the MSCHF, are the big red boots released by MSCHF in 2023. The shoes were, as described in the name, giant big red boots with a description of “cartoon boots for a big 3D world.”

Right after their drop, the shoes went viral. Even more so than all other products by MSCHF, being worn by influencers and celebrities alike in the most absurd outfits, eventually coming out with a yellow big red crocs version of the same.

Thus, we conclude the list of borderline absurd shoes over the years by MSCHF which have been perhaps the most successful marketing ventures for the brand as well as the absurd products themselves. If not anything else to their name, MSCHF will always be mentioned in regards to making a statement with all of their products and a masterclass in catching the public's eye.
